White Rose: The Musical is a contemporary stage production exploring themes of resilience and social change, presented to a general adult audience in a traditional West End-style theatre.
I was called in as Deputy Stage Manager at 24 hours’ notice due to an unforeseen staffing change. The prompt book provided was incomplete and partially illegible, presenting a significant challenge. Despite this, I successfully called the show from day one, maintaining precise timings and cues, ensuring that both the 25-strong cast and 27-piece orchestra could perform consistently at every performance.
In addition to calling the show, I undertook a full rebuild of the prompt book to professional standards, creating a reliable reference for future DSMs. I also trained my replacement to take over the remainder of the run, balancing this responsibility alongside daytime rehearsals for another production.
This role demanded exceptional adaptability, rapid problem-solving, and clear communication under pressure. Collaborating closely with directors, production staff, and performers, I ensured all team members were fully supported, demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
